Eleven people, including a Railways locomotive driver, were killed and at least two others were injured when suspected Dimaa Halam Daogah (Jewel) militants carried out two separate attacks in North Cachar Hill district on Thursday morning. According to a police source, ten people were killed when the militants also known as Black Widows- waylaid five trucks at Panimur area, which falls under the Umrangshu police station, at around 8.30 am today morning.

Eight ultras from the militant outfit Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel Garlosa) were arrested during a joint operation by police teams from the Meghalaya Police and the Assam Police on Tuesday. A huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the arrested militants. A senior police official said that the arrested militants of the DHD (J), which is also known as the Black Widow group, included at least four senior leaders of the outfit.

Slain Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden's three widows and two daughters were on Monday sentenced to 45 days in prison and fined Rs 10,000 each for illegally entering and living in Pakistan by a court in Islamabad, which also ordered their deportation after completion of their jail terms. The trial of the women was conducted in a house in Islamabad where members of bin Laden's family are currently being held. Authorities have declared the house a sub-jail.
